So you're spending the night in Detroit but you don't want a fancy pants hotel. You maybe want something cheaper, more social, or more unique. Well here's a list of alternative options and a few crazy ideas for the brave. Have fun and be safe! Know about more such places to stay? Message me at email@example.com.
Corktown recently got some brand new bike lanes as part of a program funded by the Kresge Foundation. Along the path you'll also find brand new bike racks at some great places to check out and/or eat and have a drink at (they're not all in yet, but on their way). This is a bike tour of the places with racks (or soon-to-be racks :-)).
A fast (less than 2 hours), diverse driving tour of different icons, landmarks, and neighborhood types around the core of the city. Designed to quickly give you a sense of different Detroit landscapes. Keep your eyes peeled between locations!
Home to the cycloFox (resident red fox often see during cyclocross events) Historic Fort Wayne is a must-see. It is also conveniently located near some of the best authentic Mexican food you will find in Michigan, which you will need after exploring the site.

Motown's suddenly got a lot going on soccer-wise. 2011 saw the creation of a co-ed citywide Detroit City Futbol League http://detroitcityfutbol.com , followed by an indoor league during the fall and winter, and now a legit minor league soccer team called Le Rouge http://detcityfc.com . This tour points out some of the places where people play along with the neighborhoods represented in the Futbol League. Let's kick some balls, people!
With a RoboCop statue on its way to somewheresville in Detroit, I was curious to see where he'd fit into Detroit's existing statueverse. Thanks to http://detroit1701.org/Public%20Art%20and%20Sculpture.html for listing many of these statues and images. If you see something missing, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
