With a RoboCop statue on its way to somewheresville in Detroit, I was curious to see where he'd fit into Detroit's existing statueverse. Thanks to http://detroit1701.org/Public%20Art%20and%20Sculpture.html for listing many of these statues and images. If you see something missing, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A fast (less than 2 hours), diverse driving tour of different icons, landmarks, and neighborhood types around the core of the city. Designed to quickly give you a sense of different Detroit landscapes. Keep your eyes peeled between locations!
Home to the cycloFox (resident red fox often see during cyclocross events) Historic Fort Wayne is a must-see. It is also conveniently located near some of the best authentic Mexican food you will find in Michigan, which you will need after exploring the site.
Corktown recently got some brand new bike lanes as part of a program funded by the Kresge Foundation. Along the path you'll also find brand new bike racks at some great places to check out and/or eat and have a drink at (they're not all in yet, but on their way). This is a bike tour of the places with racks (or soon-to-be racks :-)).
So you're spending the night in Detroit but you don't want a fancy pants hotel. You maybe want something cheaper, more social, or more unique. Well here's a list of alternative options and a few crazy ideas for the brave. Have fun and be safe! Know about more such places to stay? Message me at email@example.com.
