Places to find techy, makey, creative engineering types along with tools to use, resources to share, and programming to attend.
With a RoboCop statue on its way to somewheresville in Detroit, I was curious to see where he'd fit into Detroit's existing statueverse. Thanks to http://detroit1701.org/Public%20Art%20and%20Sculpture.html for listing many of these statues and images. If you see something missing, please email me at jerryp@gmail.com.
Motown's suddenly got a lot going on soccer-wise. 2011 saw the creation of a co-ed citywide Detroit City Futbol League http://detroitcityfutbol.com , followed by an indoor league during the fall and winter, and now a legit minor league soccer team called Le Rouge http://detcityfc.com . This tour points out some of the places where people play along with the neighborhoods represented in the Futbol League. Let's kick some balls, people!
The locations, descriptions, and pictures in this tour are taken from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Register_of_Historic_Places_listings_in_Detroit,_Michigan . "This is a list of the National Register of Historic Places listings in Detroit, Michigan. It is intended to be a complete list of the properties and districts on the National Register of Historic Places located in Detroit, Michigan, United States but outside of the Downtown Detroit and Midtown Detroit neighborhoods."

Corktown recently got some brand new bike lanes as part of a program funded by the Kresge Foundation. Along the path you'll also find brand new bike racks at some great places to check out and/or eat and have a drink at (they're not all in yet, but on their way). This is a bike tour of the places with racks (or soon-to-be racks :-)).
Welcome to the largest historic public market district in the United States. You'll eat, you'll shop, take some photos, and go home happy and take a well-deserved nap. Start this tour before 9AM if you want the best selection of stuff, or start later for the best selection of people-watching.
